Tremendous news for Passport Label alumni, Cloud Control who were last night awarded the Australian Music Prize for their outstanding debut album, Bliss Release. The AMP is the equivalent of The Mercury Music Prize in the UK and is only in its sixth year. Cloud Control fought off tough competition from hot favourites Tame Impala, and an impressive range of other quality nominees, to claim the $30,000 award.
The band are on tour in Europe at the moment so were unable to accept the prize in person. They head to Austin shortly for the annual SXSW festival where they will no doubt attract plenty of worthy attention.
