In order to represent the entire nation of Australia and not just Melbourne, THE PASSPORT LABEL selected a band all the way from Perth, in the far west of the country, for the 7” imprint’s third release. The rather sensational song You Are A Casino is taken from the band’s ambitious self-titled debut, which raised the eyebrows of more than a few Australian music connoisseurs.
The band is Snowman – a curious moniker for a group of musicians originating from a notoriously hot city. The song is You Are A Casino. And it’s really rather sensational. We’d hardly bother going to all the trouble of releasing it if it wasn’t now, would we?
Since stumbling upon each other at school, Snowman (Joe McKee, Andy Citawarman, Olga Hermanniusson and Ross DiBlasio) have toured Australia with the likes of Interpol, The Liars and Wolfmother, as well as playing many dingy bars all on their lonesome. The band welds together the most disparate, menacing, swampy sounds to create the soundtrack to your worst nightmare. You don’t dare wake up.
